Process Analysis to Enable the Next Phase of Royal Court Digitisation
Context
As part of its commitment to improving access to justice, our client, the Royal Court of Guernsey, was looking to develop its Case Management and Registrations projects within the Smart Court programme. Both projects are important for the digitisation of the Royal Court and potentially have significant benefits for the Royal Court and the people of Guernsey.
CBO was engaged to support the Royal Court by developing detailed business process models for conveyancing, bonds and litigation searches, and combining requirements for the Case Management solution. Using our Business Analysis expertise and following a proven methodology, CBO helped prepare these projects for success.
Approach
CBO’s Business Analysts applied a structured, best-practice approach tailored to the Royal Court’s unique context and needs. This included:
- Strategy Assessment: Aligning the analysis work with the overarching goals of the Smart Court programme. This ensured that deliverables would be proportional and directly support the Royal Court’s strategic objectives.
- Process Mapping: The team developed detailed business process models for conveyancing, bonds, and litigation searches. This step-by-step modelling highlighted current workflows, pain points and areas for improvement, giving the Royal Court clear operational insights.
- Requirements Definition: CBO consolidated and refined existing requirements for the Case Management solution, combining them with new requirements derived from the mapped processes.
Throughout the engagement, CBO integrated industry best practices from BPMN and the BCS with a deep understanding of the Royal Court’s unique context, which enabled a seamless knowledge transfer from existing Business Analysis work.
This approach allowed the internal Royal Court team to pick up where earlier work had left off on other processes, maintaining momentum and ensuring a rounded assessment of requirements and process improvements.
Impact
CBO’s approach provided the Royal Court with a comprehensive foundation to advance its Case Management and Registration projects, enhancing operational efficiency and paving the way for future digital transformation. The business process models and defined requirements serve as essential tools, enabling the Royal Court to proceed confidently with its next steps.
In addition, the groundwork laid by CBO empowered the Royal Court’s internal teams, ensuring they have the knowledge and tools needed to continue with the programme’s next phase. This engagement has fostered a collaborative environment, embedding best practices and a continuous improvement approach that will support future initiatives within the Royal Court.
Client Feedback
“This process mapping from CBO has given us a much clearer insight into the way we currently do things and how we could conduct business in the future utilising the powers of digital technology. It has also helped address pain points and areas where we currently have duplication. I am excited at looking at future developments for the Registrations Department.” – David Jehan, Head of Registrations.
